Introduction.

This page contains essential information that you will need before starting out. There are numerous concepts and terms that will be used throughout the stories that may be unfamiliar to those not acquainted with (or members of) the Intruder Wing. Please take the time to read and digest the information presented, so you will have the best reading experience possible. If you understand the introduction, it will vastly increase your enjoyment (and understanding) of the fictions themselves.

These stories tie in closely with events that happen in the Intruder Wing club. They aren't just pure fiction: They contain real people, events, and other aspects that are used within the Intruder Wing & New Imperium community. This doesn't make the story any less open, though. Events conceived in the fictions affect the clubs themselves, and club events can have affects on the fictions as well. It doesn't mean it's impossible for non-members to read and understand. Once you finish this introduction and understand some of the concepts, you will be well on your way to enjoying them. Your experience and feedback on the fictions will help to change and refine future stories. Elements seen in fiction, such as character development, plot, viewpoint, and many others are still strong aspects in the plotline. Tragic and life-changing events still happen in characters' lives. Our objective is to create a storyline set in the Star Wars universe with almost no limits. Join us in discovering whether our experiment is successful.

Another important note is the chronology of the stories. The timeline will help you figure out where many of the stories are set as well as in the Star Wars Universe time. Bio’s are also a big help when you need to find out certain facts about the character’s past which you may not pick up from the numerous fictions.

Concepts and Terms

Organizations: There are several factions in and around New Imperium/Intruder Wing space, occupying Epsilon Sector (And now more into the Unknown Regions). This storyline focuses on the Intruder Wing & sometimes The New Imperium (NI). Over the course of its history, it has been occupied by various fleets, some which fluctuate in allegiance. A while ago Intruder Wing (IW) was part of The New Imperium (NI) who consisted of the following fleets and/or groups, The Vast Empire (VE), the New Corporate Sector Authority (nCSA), the Jedi group, the Society of Shadows (SoH), the Dark Lightning Strike Fleet (DLSF), the Star Vipers fleet (SV). Former members mentioned in the NI Plotline fictions include Division Stormwind (DS), the Crimson Strike Fleet (CSF), and Phoenix Technologies Corporation (PT).
Don't let all these names and abbreviations confuse you, however. You will not be plunged into fictions without some explanation of the organizations involved. To get the most familiar, visit each of the group's pages (linked off www.newimperium.org), and also view the Epsilon Sector map, which shows the territories of each group in relation to one another.
There are other factions throughout Epsilon Sector, however. Bordering NI space is the Unified Galactic Republic (UGR), a subdivision of the New Republic (these are sometimes used interchangeably). In online terms, this is an actual group which acts as a counterpart to the NI. Thoughout the NI Plotline and IW History, tensions between the NI and the UGR will often flare into conflict. Several system have changed hands as a result of these battles (usually waged online). The NI has taken the Vol, Vonsam, Pax, and Satyr systems, as of this writing, and the Sector map reflects these changes.
Another group which makes itself known slowly and methodically throughout the NI series is the Altarin'Dakor. Since this is a major part of the Plotline, not much can be revealed about this group here. Our knowledge of them will develop over the course of the Plotline itself.

For more information the New Imperium fictions can be read at any time. Certain IW members are trying to dig up old IW fictions that can help say the IW perspective on these battles, if they do not exist any one can write about it.

Aliases: Many characters are referred to sometimes as their online aliases, Jedi names, or pilot callsigns. These characters are usually real members of the IW, SoH or NI. Most have full Star Wars names, but go by callsigns either because of their piloting background or their chosen Jedi name. These characters will usually be introduced by their whole names, or in some cases, their real names will be used. There shouldn't be any real confusion because of this. The most prominent people you'll see using this are listed below:

"Kevin" – Sector Admiral Kevin Setzer. The Fleet commander of the Intruder Wing Strike Fleet, he is a great leader and respects everyone under his command.

"Stan" – Sector Admiral Stan. The Executive officer of Intruder Wing, his orders are as valued as SA Kevin’s and he is a exceptional tactician.

"Master" – General Master. Intruder Wing’s Strategy Officer. Master is also a member of the Ranger’s and the POD. Master is also a Jedi.

"Narm" – Major Narm Treize Greyrunner. One of Intruder Wing’s greatest pilots, he is a good friend to many of the IW personal most of all to Master and Hippie.

"Hippie" – Major Hippie. One of Dream Squadron’s best pilots. Hippie is the Commanding Officer of the Rangers. He is good friends with Master and Narm.

"Dogger" - Sector Admiral Arfan Dogger, The previous Fleet Commander of Intruder Wing, he continues to serve the IW.

"Sauron" - Xar Kerensky. Hereditary ruler of the planet Varnus and the Grand Master of the Society of Shadows. Alias stems from an Ancient Varnusan legend.

Note that other names such as Eucilid, Macintosh, Stonefish, and others are actual names and not just callsigns. Other members with full names will often be referred to by one name only throughout most of the stories.

NPCs

Non-player characters are characters in the stories who are purely fictional and do not have real-life counterparts. Examples of these are Rynn Mariel, Attrid Xoan, Maarek Stele, and others (In the NI plotline) Kristy, Elly (In IW fictions). These characters serve several purposes. The authors are able to take more freedoms with these characters than they can with those of real people. This doesn't mean that only NPCs die, however. They can be main characters, such as Maarek Stele, the famous Imperial TIE Pilot you play in Lucasart's Tie Fighter. In fact, many of these characters have more detail and personality than many actual member characters. Without NPCs, fictions would be a much dryer place.

Chronology and use of resources

Don't just read the main stories through. After you finish a story, check the timeline to see if there are any side or runon stories you'd like to read that occur in between. Since works of this quality and size take months to complete, other events are happening in the meantime. Check the timeline to ensure that you don't miss anything too important. This is especially important for new members reading the fictions. Even if you aren't a member, sometimes it is good to check our Message boards and web pages while waiting for the latest chapter to come out. You will often find tidbits that are going on which will add to your experience of the story later on. It is also important that you use the map and the Database (the latter when the time comes), to familiarize yourself with the people and locations that are used in the stories.

At this point, there is so much information and history, and so many characters, that it is hard for the average reader to keep track of it all. The Database and Sector map will help you in these areas.
