INTRUDER WING

THE QUEST

This story takes place soon after The Outbreak Series, so you need to read that before you have any idea what is going on in this story.

The long journey was almost over Master thought as he pulled back the Hyperspace lever bringing back his craft into realspace showing the planet Courscant, which was a city covering a planet. Master remembered seeing the Holonet transmissions of the Imperial Remnants destroying it, but it looked like the New Republic had done a good job in rebuilding much of what was lost. Master looked at Kristy and smiled who smiled back, He didn’t know why she had wanted to come along, many had objected to her, a New Republic Scientist joining Intruder Wing but they hadn’t seen her when they were all infected so Master trusted her and the others did after a while (with some persuasion from Master and Mac). "Unknown craft please power down your engines and transmit your ships manifest" The ships controller said in a metallic like voice. "Kristy hit the button to transmit "No Problem Courscant Control, Transmitting now", she hit the craft manifest button sending it to Control. After a few moments Courscant control answered "Ok Vornskr, power down your engines at the coordines Oh, three point oh One Four. "Confirmed control" Kristy said back. Master flew the ship to the coordinates and powered down the engines. "Well I suppose we wait", Master said to Kristy. Kristy nodded and said "Ok then, I might go have rest, it was a long flight". Master nodded as she walked off towards the bunks. It gave Master time to think back when he was on the Intruder, as he didn’t leave on the best of terms.

There was a knock on SA Kevin’s office door who said enter when he heard it.

Master entered the room at saluted Kevin who saluted back, Master sat down.

"What can I do for you Captain"? Kevin asked. Master paused for a minute and said "Sir, as you know Narm is off having time off, Mac is training the new pilots and Hippie is practicing his flying skills in the Sim’s which I’m sick of beating him in, so in other words I’m bored and I want to see if you can grant a request". Kevin thought and asked "Ok, Depends what it is", "Well I want to find out who authorized the Hive Virus Project and stop them in any means possible" Master replied, Kevin thought for a moment "How are you going to find them"? Kevin asked "I’m going to Courscant to look" Master said. Kevin was shocked "I cant allow you to go to Courscant, I’m sorry". "I saved all your lives, I want to make sure this never happens to anyone else and the only way to do that is on Courscant so I am going with or without your consent" Master said angrily. Kevin thought for a moment "Alright it appears I cant stop you and I’m not happy bout you going so go, what you do with your life is your own concern. We would miss a fine pilot like yourself so come back in one piece" Master saluted and walked out leaving Kevin thinking what had he done.

Master was going to take his Tie Defender but decided because he was going to Courscant he better not, anyway it would be a long flight and he didn’t like the sound of it in a cramped T/D so decided to go and get his Corellian YT-2000 which he managed to……liberate off some smugglers a year or so ago. The ship named the Vornskr had been slightly modified after Master had got it, It was painted Jet Black besides the name which was in red, the lasers had been upgraded to slightly more powerful, several hidden weapon lockers (which Narm would be very proud of), as it had many types of Grenades, Blasters, Force Pike even another Lightsaber, The Vornskr also had a rear mounted Warhead launcher for troublesome craft, that could hold Concussion Missiles, Proton Torps and the newer Ion Pulse Warheads for disabling craft. Master piloted his Tie Defender to the middle of a close by Nebula to where his ship was kept out of the watchful eyes of the galaxy, not many knew of its existence besides the few that had helped him modify it. Master left his Tie Defender in the middle of the Nebula and took the Vornskr back to the Intruder, which didn’t know who it was at first but soon found out. Master was packing supplies in the craft when he felt Kristy come up behind him, with out turning he asked "Not that I don’t enjoy your visits Kristy, but may I ask why are you here"? Kristy threw down her bag near his feet and said "I know why your going, and I am coming with you", Master turned to voice his objection but the look in her eyes led him to believe he couldn’t stop her, Master sighed "Alright you can come on one condition, you ask SA Kevin bout it, he doesn’t like me going so I cant ask for you as well". Kristy smiled and said "I already have, who do you think asked me to go with you". Master laughed. "Ive only got a few more things to load then I’m going to go get some weapons from Narm’s quarters then ill be all set, are you ready to go"? Kristy paused for a sec thinking "No ive got everything I want so I’m ready". "Ok, ill be 10 minutes, make yourself at home" Master said while running off. Kristy just smiled as she boarded the ship. Master came back ten minutes later with another crate apparently full of weapons from Narm’s locker and some more supplies to find Kristy looking at the stats of his ship on the computer terminal. After the ship was all loaded Hippie, Mac and Kevin wished them luck and they took off into the blackness of space.

"Vornskr please come in…………Come in Vornskr" Snapped Master out of his daydream "Yes Control go ahead" Master said. "You may land at Bay 37" The Controller impatiently replied. Master warmed up the engines, checked on Kristy who was fast asleep so he decided to leave her be and Master flew his ship to Bay 37.

Kristy slept for a few hours, when she awoke Master was returning from signing the papers for them to look after his ship. Master and Kristy went for a look around the city, much had changed since Master had last been there when it was still the Empire’s time. Much had been destroyed and rebuiled over the top. Master could feel a stirring in the force and knew there was a powerful force user on the planet which Master believed to be none other than Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.

Master and Kristy went to a public access terminal hoping to find any information and the Hive Virus. After some slicing on Kristy’s part they came up with a few small references of some senators pushing for investigation into the Hive Virus but 90% of the senators had voted against it therefore throwing it out. There wasn’t any more they could find out. Master told Kristy to go back to the ship and wait for him, she reluctantly went when Master said he wouldn’t be long.

Master walked to the former Imperial Palace where the senate met, deciding to take the more direct approach and ask who went behind the senates back, at least it would put some pressure on them. Master walked up to the entrance of the assembly area where he was stopped by a guard who said "No Admittance today". Master replied "I wish to speak to the senate on a very important matter, let me pass" The guard laughed and said "You and everyone else on Courscant, it’s a closed meeting today come back tomorrow and maybe you will get lucky". Master wasn’t happy but with the amount of guards around it wouldn’t do him much good, so not sure what to do next he returned to his ship.

Luke Skywalker had just returned to Courscant after being on Yavin 4 for quite some time, he hoped to spend some time with his sister Leia, Han and there children which he hadn’t done in some time. The shuttle had landed in the higher landing bays because it needed to have more supplies put on board so Luke left seeking his sister who should still be in the council meeting. Luke entered the Council room to see General Wedge Antillies addressing the Council on the current rebuilding of Courscant. Leia looked up and saw him and smiled, Luke did the same. Wedge had just finished when he felt a disterbece in the force outside the former palace, Leia must have felt it to because she winced. Luke couldn’t tell if it was the Dark Side he left or the light but he went to go see anyway. When he reached the main doors he could feel someone strong in the force further away towards the spaceport, so he questioned the guard what had happened "There was a young man trying to get in to address the council but because today is a closed session I had to turn him away Cmdr Skywalker", Normally Luke would have reminded the guard that he was no longer a commander, but because he did not want to lose this person he left the guard and followed the presence.

Master had just come back to the ship, Kristy was waiting wondering where he had gone. "Where did you go, I was starting to get worried"? Master couldn’t help but smile "Why you miss me"? Master said sarcastically. Kristy blushed and said nothing, Master smiled. "Well I tried to take the more direct approach and go to the senate and find out what I could from them, no luck however, I didn’t even get in the palace" Kristy sat down to think. "Well I don’t know bout you but I don’t want to stay in the ship when I get stay in a hotel, what you think"? Master said, Kristy nodded. After grabbing some food, money and anything else that would be needed they exited the ship and Master locked the hatch. They were walking out of the hanger when Kristy walked into Luke Skywalker making her fall but she was stopped by the force from him "I am sorry young lady, are you alright"? he asked. Master walked round the corner and saw Luke Skywalker talking to Kristy. Luke Skywalker looked up and saw Master approaching. "Kristy go to the hotel, here’s some money, ill be along shortly" Kristy looked at both Master and Luke and shrugged and started to walk to the hotel.

"Master, its been a while" Luke said to Master who replied "Yes it has my former teacher". Luke said "Come with me to my room and we will talk further", Master followed him.

"May I offer you a drink"? Luke asked, "No I am fine" Master replied. "So what have you done for the last year or so"? Luke asked after a few minutes. "I always knew small talk wasn’t one of your specialties" Master replied with a grin. "I have been flying for Intruder Wing for the last six months". Luke had a shocked look on his face "Intruder Wing? For the Empire"? Luke questioned, Master reluctantly spoke "Yes, it took me a while to figure out what to do with my life and to me the Empire made more sense, when I was in the Empire’s service my life was simpler and I had focus, I trained under Vader and learnt to harness the powers of the Dark Side" Master paused and keep going "I sought you out when the Empire was destroyed as my life as a servant of the Emperor was in turmoil and I didn’t know what to do, you taught me the ways of the Light Side and how to not let my anger get the better of me, I once again had focus and knew what I was doing. You proclaimed me a Jedi Knight, I’m sorry I left when I did but I was restless the anger will still high in me and there was nothing I could do, I went travelling for a few months deciding what to do until I found Intruder Wing, they once again gave me focus so I fight for them now and have done with everything I have inside, but I did not come back to tell you this" Master said cutting the story short. "Then why have you come"? Luke asked. "I wish to seek an audience with the senate and your sister on a very important matter concerning Intruder Wing" Master replied unsure how much to tell him. Luke did not press for anymore "Come, the senate is still in assembly and they will be there for a while, so we will go now" he said as getting up.

Master was slightly worried, he was a Intruder Wing pilot and he had destroyed his fare share of New Republic fighter and pilots but never had a known Intruder Wing pilot walked into the Assembly and wanted them to listen. Luke Skywalker could feel his worry, "Don’t concern yourself with what may happen, think of what you want to happen and it will, remember that and you can accomplish anything, one trained in the force or nor it doesn’t matter", Master couldn’t help but smile. Master stared in awe at the Senate Assembly Chamber of were he had once stood in front of the Emperor as a prize for him from Darth Vader. The Emperor was not convinced of Master’s skill until he was pitted off against one of the Emperor’s Royal Guard with a Lightsaber. It was a tough battle considering the guard had no skill in the force but both the guard and Master wielded their own Saber’s like Masters. Master had won the battle and the Royal Guard was on the ground his weapon out of reach, The Emperor looked on as Master was about to deliver the killing blow. Master paused and deactivated his saber hooking it back on his belt as he said "My Master’s he does not need to die, he had no chance in winning against someone empowered with the Dark Side". As Master finished a bolt of Force Lightning shot out and hit the downed Royal Guard in the chest killing him. "That is where you are wrong young apprentice, you defeated him therefore he deserves to die, fail in your duty and suffer the conciquencis, heed that lesson young apprentice, Yes Lord Vader he is a fine Dark Jedi, has he run the test on Vjun"? the Emperor said then asked. "Not yet my master, I was going to take him after you tested him" Lord Vader answered "Then take him, then return him to me if he survives", were the last words of the Emperor before Master left. Now Master was again awaiting to talk with someone of "higher power" than himself.

Kristy had just got a room, she had wanted two one for Master and one for herself but apparently they only had one, so wondering what to do she took it anyway thinking that Master wouldn’t mind. She wasn’t sure how she felt about him, he had saved her from the Infedela, he had trusted her on the Intruder when no one else had, he had let her come along to Courscant with him which was supprising since she did know where Intruder Wing was based and she is a former NR Scientist. Not knowing how long Master would be she decided to stay in the room and leaving a message with the Reception Droid that only he could disturb her.

Master could hear the Chief of State, Leia Organa Solo talking about a problem on a nearby planet, As Master looked down at the senators he saw a few farmiler faces, General Dodonna, General Rieekan, Admiral Ackbar and many such as Senator Garm Bel Iblis which Master had not meet but he knew who they were. Leia sat down and she asked for any new business, a Senator that Master had never seen or heard of stood up and addressed the senate got the answer he wanted and sat down, Leia called for new business once again. Master and Luke walked down the steps to the entrance archway, Luke spoke "I have someone with me who wishes to speak Madame Chief of State", Leia smiled to the title Luke had called her and nodded. Master drew back his hood revealing his face for the first time several of the senators gasped as they recognized who he was. Leia who had no idea who he was asked Admiral Ackbar who he was, he softly replied "His name is Master and he was once a Jedi in training to your brother, after Luke awarded him the title of Jedi Knight he vanished and has not been seen in about a year I believe". Leia was surprised Luke had never mentioned him. Master began to speak "Senators of the New Republic, I have returned to Courscant with a matter of grave importance to discuss with you. Many of you know after training with Luke Skywalker I had vanished, many believed I was dead, many believed I had left this galaxy all together but I had done neither" Master paused on this point to get the senators to think where he went. "In all honesty I went a lot of places many of which the New Republic has not even heard about, but for the last six months or so I joined up with Intruder Wing" Master led the gasps and talking die down before he continued. "But I am not here to talk about my past, I am here because of an important matter that happened a few weeks ago, I have learnt that you senators voted on the Hive Virus and if you should do research into it, is that correct"? Master asked, General Dodonna spoke "Approximity Six Months ago we voted on if we should do research into it yes, but most of us voted against it". Master thought for a second then said "Then someone has being going behind the Senate’s back and started the project anyway in the Unknown Regions". Master let the gasps die down before he prepared to speak again, but he was cut off by Admiral Ackbar who stood up and started to speak "These are very serious allegations son, do you have any proof of this"? Master reached into his robe and pulled out a Holo-Vid "Watch this, I took it when I was trying to heal those infected" He said as he threw the disk onto the table where Leia picked it up and put it into the Holo Player which the Holo appeared in mid air above the table for all to see. The Intruder Wing Logo flashed and rotated for a few sec’s, Master smiled at this because he put it in to see what the senators reaction would be. The Holo on board the Intruder started up with Master in the bridge and Kevin appeared, the Holo showed the whole fight scene which put many of the senators at an awe as it continued. It continued to show everything that was of importance. Luke said to Master "You have come a very powerful Jedi, but you are still using the Dark Side", "No, I used the Dark Side when I was infected and I know I am as close as ever to using it but I do not use it willingly" Master replied, Luke just nodded. Leia stood and spoke "How is it you managed to heal everyone"? "The force is all powerful, I learnt that from Master Skywalker but I have learnt many other things since I completed my training, the force helped me heal them but it nearly caused my death and I am not very eager to repeat it again, that is why I have come, to make sure that I and the other Jedi never have to" Master said after a moment. Leia nodded and sat then said "We thank you for telling us this, it must not be easy for someone of Intruder Wing to come to Courscant after what we did to your fleet and planet, (The Battle of Eribria Prime) we will discuss what you have said and we thank you as we now know there is a traitor in the senate and for that we are grateful", Master bowed and left the senate to discuss his news. Luke walked out of the palace with him and said "You have learnt much over the years that I taught you Master and much since, I am proud of to have teached you, it must be hard to come here after all this time and being in the Intruder Wing, now I must see to some business, ill see you around I’m sure", "That you will Luke, that you will" Master said as he walked towards the hotel.
